In the paper there we presented results of monitoring of European silver fir vitality over the period of 1986-2010 and studies concerning an influence of ownership form on state of fir stands threat by cambiophagous insects. There was analyzed the process of dying trees intensity in forest stands belonging to individual private owners and commune owners. One has proved the progress of a process of...
Health status analysis of 14 stands in the Rokita Forest District showed severe intensity of disease in ash trees (Fraxinus excelsior L.). The most common symptoms included the death of whole branches or their apices, tree-top dieback, crowns defoliation, local necroses on the trunks and twigs and epicormic shoots. After three years in newly established experimental plots only 36.2% (plot Moracz)...
The objectives of this study are (i) to evaluate the suitability of wavelet analysis and spline functions when applied for analysing changes in the short- and long-term DBH radial increment in more than 120 years-old beech Fagus sylvatica L. and (ii) to analyse relationships between the defoliation and the DBH radial increment in beech. Sampling was carried out in the Świętokrzyski National Park (forest...
During 2011-2012 the studies were carried out on the species composition and quantity of insects inhabiting of Picea abies (L.) H. Karst. cones in the Beskid Śląski Mts. (BŚ) and the Beskid Żywiecki Mts. (BŻ) (the Węgierska Górka Forest District). In both these regions a total of 320 cones from 16 trees were collected for analysis and for rearing. Moreover 1600 seeds extracted from cones, were analysed...
The objective of this study is to develop a statistical method for estimating the total infestation density of P. sylvestris stems by X. lineatus beetles. The method in matter should, permit calculation of the estimation error while omitting the need of debarking of the entire stem. The field work was carried out in the Świętokrzyskie Mountains (Zagnańsk Forest District, Występa Forest Sub-district),...
The aim of this work was to determine a sample size needed to develop a taper model. Relationship between sample size used in development of taper model and the accuracy of the tree volume and stem profile determination was analyzed. On the basis of conducted analysis there was determined both minimal and optimal sample size necessary to correct elaboration of local tree taper model.
